Masami “Masa” Nagakawa, 82, of Honolulu died Aug. 21 at Straub Clinic & Hospital. Born in Waimea, he was a retired salesman for Sears. Beatrice C. Pakele, 95, of Hilo died at Life Care Center of Hilo on Friday, Sept. 14. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker. Willie Mae Philp, 89, of Pahoa died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Caldwell, Texas, she was a county sheriff for Burleson County, Texas, and a deputy sheriff in Austin, Texas. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Texas Sheriffs Association. Services to be held at a later date in Texas.
